From August 27th to 31st, 2024, the city of Zagreb will host the World Forum of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). This biennial event offers a platform for students, officials, and partners involved in university sports to connect, engage in further education, and exchange cultures, experiences, and ideas.
The opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, at 9:30 AM in the Forum Cinema of the “Stjepan Radić” Student Dormitory.
As part of the ceremony, a panel discussion titled “Sports Diplomacy and Global Relations: Leveraging University Sports for International Cooperation and Cultural Exchange” will be held. Esteemed panelists include:
- Nikolina Brnjac, Member of the European Parliament and former Croatian Minister of Tourism and Sports
- Martin Sinković, triple Olympic rowing gold medalist
- Besim Aliti, Secretary General of the Kosovo Olympic Committee
- Damjan Rudež, former NBA basketball player
A Record-Breaking Forum
The 2024 FISU World Forum in Zagreb is expected to bring together over 250 participants from more than 70 countries, making it the largest forum to date. The opening ceremony will be attended by high-ranking state officials and ambassadors from Algeria, Australia, France, Georgia, Italy, South Korea, the Netherlands, the United States, and Slovakia.
